Since visiting Cherokee Street for the first time, I never would’ve thought that I’d be back for their biggest event of the year – Cinco de Mayo celebration! Thanks to some persuasion from Kara, I ended checking out the festivities last Saturday instead of studying for finals…and I don’t regret that decision one bit. It’s been a while since I’ve ventured around St. Louis! Thankfully that was remedied last weekend when a couple of adventurous buddies and I visited a graffiti wall down by the Gateway Arch. Plenty of talented graffiti artists have made their mark (and unfortunately plenty of non-talents have too) on the mile-long flood wall by the riverfront. In fact, it’s the only legal place to graffiti in St. Louis! We didn’t walk the entire mile (2 miles?), but even then, I scored plenty of colorful photos. Anyone who likes art would appreciate this place:
In all my four years of schooling, I’ve only stepped into the Kemper Art Museum on campus twice. First was when the WǑMEN (我们): CONTEMPORARY CHINESE ART exhibit came along two years ago. More recently, several pieces from the museum’s vault were temporarily on display to the public (hence, vault party). Fun fact I learned from my friend Masha: most museums only display 10% of their entire collection. 10%! Doesn’t that make you feel a little cheated? Better look at them while I can…
Since I’m such a visual person, I figured it only made sense to share interesting finds around the internet in pictures. Unless there are no pictures. Then you gotta suck it up and read whatever article I found interesting (ha). But the point is, I wanted to try sharing more things that I’m excited about – like really cool art, products, and videos in addition to the articles that I have been posting in the past.
