Fall Conference Day 3/3: Farewell

Phew, finally reached the end to my 3-part post about my weekend retreat at Fall Conference!

Whelp, this last day concluded our study of Acts 2. The passage was taken from vs. 42 – 47:

The Fellowship of the Believers

42 They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles.44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts,47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.

The most unique part about this community was how “they sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” Wow. Talk about being selfless. None of these Christians considered their stuff their own since God provided them with all these earthly things.

You give and take away
You give and take away
My heart will choose to say, Lord
Blessed be Your name

The speaker told us the story about one college student who lent out his car, not just to his buddies, but to anyone who needed it. He posted a sign-up schedule on his door and hung the car keys on the outside for people to sign out the car. Incredible. If I start thinking in the same way – that all my things are God’s – then I think I would live a much simpler, selfless life.

Then all of sudden, it was time to take final class pictures then go home.

Then we hit the road:

Now we’re back to the daily grind, but hopefully filled with more knowledge and excitement to pour God’s love out onto our campus!
